Amazing Karch was the stage name of a small-time magician in Las Vegas in the 1960's and the single parent of a son, Jack. His career was ended when members of the Chicago Outfit believed he was making fools of them. They broke his fingers, rendering him unable to perform magic. He then supported himself and his son by driving a cab. He eventually died of cancer.
