Arno Epperson was the real name of Fox Mitchell, who Harry Bosch feels sure was the man responsible for killing his mother Marjorie Lowe. He was pointed to Fox Mitchell by his mother's close girl friend, Aunt Nannette, who gives this name to Harry when he visits her, dying, in a retirement home. Fox Mitchell was a CI (confidential informant) who helped the police close drug cases back in the day, including Irvin Irving, when he was working narcotics.
