Detective "Barrel" Johnson is a retired investigator with the LAPD. He worked in the Hollywood Division where he was the partner of Robert "Crate" Moore.

Johnson is played by guest star Troy Evans in the 2015 streaming series Bosch (TV Series). where he is a recurring character. He also makes a guest appearance along side Crate in Bosch: Legacy
Differences in Adaptation[]
In the novels there are a pair of detectives similarly nicknamed "Crate" and "Barrel" - Detectives Glanville and Jerry Solomon. In the novel The Drop they are assigned to work with Bosch investigating the murder of George Irving. There is also a Detective Johnson mentioned in the novel The Concrete Blonde.
In Bosch: Legacy episode "Horseshoes and Hand Grenades" Bosch recruits Crate and Barrel for help to do surveillance on Carl Rogers and his men. They get DMV photos as part of the intel. It is revealed that they have since retired but still have connections from their time as detectives.
