Harry Bosch Wiki

Beverly Hills Safe & Lock was a private security company located on the bottom floor of the J. C. Stock Building on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. Unlike a bank, it offered no financial services, only secure storage for valuables. It was notable for its huge curved window of triple glazed security glass that allowed an unobstructed view of the door to the vault.

Nguyen Tran rented a safety-deposit box through BHS&L to store his diamonds. In late May 1990 he removed them when his friend Ngo Van Binh told him that BHS&L would be targeted for burglary. That attempted burglary occurred the next day when John Rourke and his associates tunneled into the vault from storm drains. The burglary was thwarted by Harry Bosch, but BHS&L was destroyed in the process.
