Da'Quan (DQ) Foster is an African-American artist and art teacher living and working in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. He is married and has two sons. He was a member of the Rollin 40s Crips in the 1990's, with several drug arrests and four years in prison. After that he renounced gang life to become a full-time artist. Since then his painting have become increasingly popular and valuable. He devotes part of his time to teaching art to neighborhood children. His studio is located on Degnan Boulevard.

In 2004 he was arrested for rape and his DNA was taken. No charges were filed against him in the rape case.

In 2015 his DNA was found at the murder scene of Lexi Parks. He retained Mickey Haller to represent him and to prove his innocence. Because he didn't have the money to pay Haller, he agreed to give him paintings that Haller could sell. A crucial aspect of the case was DQ's alibi for the night Parks was killed. He was with a transvestite male prostitute but did not want to admit it.
