Derek Wilbern was a tow truck driver for Aardvark Towing. On 16 February 1986 he was one of three drivers working the Hancock Park area. When Melissa Landy was abducted Wilbern was initially a suspect because he had a record for a previous arrest for rape, but no conviction. After Jason Jessup was arrested, Wilbern was fired from his job for lying about his arrest record.
