The Devonshire Division of the LAPD is located in the northwestern portion of the San Fernando Valley. It is a suburban area, moderately affluent, with a very low incidence of violent crime. Homicide detectives there have far fewer cases to chase compared with other sections of the city. For this reason it is often referred to by L.A. cops as Club Dev. It is a popular posting, in part because it is adjacent to the city of Simi Valley in Ventura County, an area where many police officers choose to live.
