Fair Warning is the thirty-fourth novel written by Michael Connelly, and the third to feature investigative reporter Jack McEvoy. It also has an appearance from ex-FBI Agent Rachel Walling. The book was published by Little Brown on 26 May 2020 in the United States. It follows The Poet (1996) and The Scarecrow (2009) in the McEvoy series.
Synopsis[]
Jack McEvoy has settled into a quiet life reporting for consumer protection website Fair Warning, surviving on the proceeds of his books about the serial killers The Poet and The Scarecrow. His routine is disrupted when he becomes a person of interest in the murder of Christine Portrero. (only time will tell) McEvoy had a one night stand with the victim a year prior to her death but the detectives working the case are short of leads. McEvoy starts his own investigation which soon encompasses genetic profiling companies, involuntarily celibate misogynist groups, dark web dealings and a vicious killer known as The Shrike. McEvoy seeks out the help of his former lover and ex-FBI profiler Rachel Walling to untangle the story.
