J. Michael Haller (d. 1970) was a famous criminal defense attorney, and the father of attorney Mickey Haller and homicide detective Harry Bosch. He was a registered Democrat, and lived on Canon Drive in Beverly Hills.
He represented prostitute Margerie Lowe on six loitering arrests between 1948 and 1961, and later filed all of the paperwork for Margerie Lowe to try to regain custody of her son. Haller did not meet Bosch until the man was on his deathbed.
