Ken Lin is a professional poker player working for the Chinese government. He is part of a group of players under the control of Chinese diplomat Shiwei Chen. They regularly fly to America to play in casinos in Las Vegas and Los Angeles in order to move money into the US.
Lin ducks his planned return flight to China to arrange an illegal poker game in a Chinese restaurant. His friend Tian Jun Gu warns that it is a bad idea to cross Chen but attends the game. Chen comes to find the missing players, shuts down the game and beats Lin for his defiance.
