Maxwell James Freeling (b. 1960; d. 1994) was Cassie Black's lover, the biological father of Cassie's daughter Jodie Shaw, the son of Carson Freeling, and the step-brother of Leo Renfro.
Before his death, he was skilled thief who taught the trade to Cassie. He died when a heist at the Cleopatra Casino and Resort fell apart, and he fell through the window of the twentieth-floor penthouse suite through the glass atrium roof onto the gambling floor.
