Melissa Theresa Landy (b. 1974, d. 2/16/86) was the daughter of Regina Landy, the stepdaughter of Kensington Landy, and the sister of Sarah Landy. The family lived on S. Windsor Boulevard one block north of Wishire Boulevard in the Hancock Park neighborhood. On Sunday 16 February 1986 she was abducted and murdered by Jason Jessup. She and her sister were playing the front yard. Jessup abducted her, killed her, and dumped her body in a dumpster behind El Rey Theatre, about ten blocks from her home. Forensic examination revealed that she had been strangled but not sexually assaulted. She was wearing a blue dress that had belonged to her sister, black patent leather shoes, a silver necklace with a Winnie-the-Pooh charm, and a bracelet of blue beads.
