Raul Aaron "Mish" Levin (d. 12 Apr 2005) was a private investigator retired from the Los Angeles Police Department, and an associate of Mickey Haller's. He earned the nickname Mish from Haller based on what Haller called the "mishmash" of Levin's Mexican and Jewish heritage. He lived in a bungalow a few blocks off Brand Boulevard in Glendale. He used a room in his house as his office.

On 7 March 2005, Levin began investigating the charges against Haller's newest client, Louis Roulet. He received an unauthorized copy of the arrest report from a source in the LAPD, but he did not realize that his source was already under suspicion. The copy of the arrest report that Levin received had false information about the murder weapon. This was a major setback for the defense.

Despite the setback, Levin was a thorough investigator. He noted that Roulet received a lot of parking tickets, and he obtained copies of all of these. One ticket showed that Roulet had been parked on the 6700 block of Blythe Street in Panorama City on the night that Martha Renteria was murdered. Levin planned to tell Haller about this information, but he never had the chance.

On 12 April 2005, Levin was shot and killed by Mary Windsor using Haller's Colt Woodsman. His death was investigated by Glendale detectives Lankford and Sobel.

Portrayal[]

In the 2011 film, Levin's name was changed to Frank Levin, and he was played by William H. Macy.
