Samuel Scales (b. 1969 - d. 2019) was a con man, an internet thief, and a client of defense attorney Mickey Haller.

In 2002, Scales was arrested by Roy Wunderlich for selling stolen credit card numbers. In 2005, he was arrested and convicted for stealing credit card numbers again, this time through the fraudulent disaster relief website SunamiHelp.com.

In April of 2013, Scales was arrested for fraud after he created "a phony website and Facebook page to solicit donations costs of a child killed in a school massacre in Connecticut."

In October 2017, Scales started a new con based on the premise that he was raising funds for the victims of the mass shooting in Las Vegas. He was caught and ended up serving 15 months in High Desert State Prison. During most of that time his cellmate was Austin Niederland.

On December 1, 2018, Scales was arrested for a new scam purporting to raise money for victims of the mass shooting at a bar in Thousand Oaks, CA. The arrest report stated that Scales was using the alias Walter Lennon. It also contained the note, "FBI-LA".

In 2019, Scales began a con based around government subsidies for converting used cooking oil to bio-fuel. During this time he used the name Walter Lennon. Unfortunately for Scales, the party he was ripping off was an organized crime unit headed in Los Angeles by Louis Opparizio. Scales' scam was eventually uncovered by Opparizio who took care of the problem.

In October 2019, Scales was found dead in the trunk of Mickey Haller's car.
