Dr. Sharon Laksmi is a medical examiner with the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. On 9 September 2009 she performed the autopsy on John Li. She noted that Li had swallowed a shell casing which lodged in his esophagus. She also noted that he had an advanced case of lung cancer which probably would have killed him fairly soon if he had not been murdered.
