Thomas Niese is is a juvenile graffiti artist and runaway living in Los Angeles. He witnesses the shooting of a homeless veteran and is interviewed by Detective Harry Bosch about the murder. He is later killed by Xavi Moreno in an underpass. Bosch is able to link his murder to a team of ex-special forces soldiers including Moreno.

Thomas Niese is played by guest star Bridger Zadina in the 2015 streaming series Bosch. He is a recurring character in the third season. The character is based on Edward Niese from the book The Black Echo. They are both witnesses who are interviewed by Bosch and then later killed themselves.
