Very Early Smoke Dectection Alarm is a technology used to prevent damage to equipment and data loss in certain technology industries such as server farms. It uses lasers to detect very low levels of smoke, such as a single cigarette. It operates by flooding designated, enclosed spaces with carbon dioxide, thus suppressing fire without the use of water or other substances that could damage hardware. However, the system can be lethal to people if they become trapped in the room. Safeguards are built into the system and the facility to prevent this from happening. These safeguards include 1 mninute warnings when smoke is detected and breathing devices located within the room.
