Van Jackson was a crime reporter with the Rocky Mountain News who was trained by Jack McEvoy in 1994. In 1996, he reported on the murder of Theresa Lofton.
He worked his way up to the position of city editor for the Rocky before the newspaper shut down at the end of February 2009.
