Virginia "Ginny" Skinner is a veteran reporter with the Los Angeles Times. She began her career as the crime beat reporter where she first met Harry Bosch . She later moved over to the city hall beat covering local politics. In 2014 she was contacted by Bosch who was seeking information on Charles Broussard. She told Bosch that Broussard had initially backed Robert Inglin for mayor and held a fundraiser for him in January 2004. She went on to say that after Inglin lost in the primary, Broussard switched his allegiance to Armando Zeyas.
Less than a year later they both sensed that their relationship was not going well. Ginny said it was because she is still very focused on her career while Bosch is trying to find his purpose in retirement.
